My Latest Crush

Her name is Alessandra Ambrosio.  I would say that she doesn't get anywhere near as much exposure as the T-Mobile girl but it's tough to argue that she's not well exposed in the photos below:

I am in lust.

Here is one source and here is another.

A.R.G.! This Already Happened Thousands of Miles Away! I Wanna Play Too!

Alternative Reality Games Intrigue Me:
The Witness is an alternative reality game that uses specially designed iPhone software to display a film when viewers/ players are standing in the location where events of the narrative play out.  Players/ viewers assumed the role of detectives and traveled to locations around Berlin to unlock additional videos in this choose your own adventure style game.

The video describes the experience far better than I do:

I think it would be cool if more experiences like this were available.   Perhaps I'll create something similar.

Also, I think it would be cool if someone did something similar inside a haunted house or at several "haunted" locations around town in the month leading up to Halloween.

Truly Bizarre Old Timey Photos

Internet Stuff:

What do you mean give him what he doesn't have?  Oh... OH!

OK, it's your flag now.

The other 48 old timey black and white photos in this series are just as, if not even more, bizarre.  You can find them here

Art of Dan Mountford

Current Artists: I just discovered an artist whose works I enjoy.  His name is Dan Mountford.  His Flickr stream is here.  His online store where you can buy the print of the girl in either color as shown or black and white is here.  Below are two examples of his work:

Image Creation: Using textures in a similar way could yield interesting results, I think.  Perhaps one could use other body parts doing something, i.e. drinking from a glass, holding something, or use objects other than people such as trees, buildings, etc. and combine these with textures from www.bittbox.com.

Internet Trick - Illuminati

Digital Camera Studio Setup: Jessica Walsh has published a very well written account of setting up her own digital photography studio here: http://blog.jessicawalsh.com/?p=198
Miss, we're going to need you to take off your shirt.

Internet Magic:

First, you have to know how to spell illuminati correctly.

Then, you have to spell it correctly backwards.
Finally, you add .com to the end and point your browser to: itanimulli.com

Last, note your facial expression if you've never done this before.

TL;DR: itanimulli.com trick.

Home Decor

Home Decor:
In my kitchen I have space above the built-in cabinets which is mostly empty. One of the people I live with found a black metal birdcage, which take up about 20%ish of the space available.  Here is a terribly grainy photo of the space:

Not the most inspiring thing to look at

I'm thinking about including one or more of the following to fill up the rest of the space:
  • Large wooden letters spelling out "Create", "Dream", "Imagine", "Conquer" or something else.
  • Chalkboard made of plywood covered in store bought chalkboard paint
  • Vintage Scales
  • Clear Glass Things
  • Long slender oil painting and a clock next to it.
  • Graphic print fabric mounted on a board
  • Pitchers
  • Globe
  • A row of books of the same color
  • Small scale chairs or bikes in black metal
  • Vintage signage
  • Wooden Boxes
  • Large black and white photo

Portable Chalkboard Building Instructions:

  • Cut a thin piece of plywood to fit inside a picture frame.
  • Paint one side of the plywood with chalkboard paint.
  • Remove the glass from the frame and slip the homemade chalkboard inside.
  • Enjoy your analog iPad.

Note: chalkboard paint - should be about $15 per quart.

If any internet denizens have strong feelings I will try to make it happen and will post photos of the results. I make no promises as I want to keep the costs of this project down to a minimum and will have to rely on what home improvement stores and thrift shops have to offer.

Perhaps I could use the extra chalkboard paint to create something similar to this:
With a magnet glued to the back it could hang on the fridge

TL;DR: Just random thoughts on home decor and directions for making a portable chalkboard.

Move Trailers

The trailers are always the best parts of the movies anyway- why not kick back with a bowl of microwavable popcorn and enjoy them right now: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/

If You're a Baller, You Need These (I Think)

If I had a baller pool with a view of the Hollywood Hills, Manhattan or South Beach, I would probably need to buy some of these to put around my pool.

You can buy them here.  I'm not getting a cut of any potential sale, which makes this an honest recommendation. Of course, I haven't actually sat on one of these or had one in my backyard when I've thrown a party so I can't really fully recommend them.  Hint, hint, manufacturer.

Honey Sundae

Before you die, I suggest you try: pouring bee barf over vanilla ice cream and serving with a napkin that has been moistened at one end.  You will get sticky honey on your lips and possibly your fingers while consuming this dessert and the moistened napkin will help clean you off.
Supposed to be a bowl of ice cream with honey on top

The Minutemen

8.9 Magnititude Earthquake in Japan:
Funniest reaction: I guess this is all just a BATTLE: LOS ANGELES promotional stunt?

Los Angeles Times:
Ryan Bowman, 42, was charged with felony hit-and-run after his Bentley slammed into Lauren Ann Freeman last November as she was in the crosswalk at Hammond Street. Bowman had faced a maximum prison sentence of up to four years in state prison had he been convicted.

You Learn Something New Everyday:
The Minutemen? I thought they were a support group for patriotic premature ejaculators.

TL;DR: I hope the Minutemen have a sense of humor.

My Birthday Filtered Down to This

Obvious things that need to be legislated right now:
  • Cell phone carriers and other providers of limited amounts of mobile data need to be forced to provide warnings to their customers when they are within 80%, 90% and 100% of their maximum amounts of data
I want to find:
satisfying work, real hope for success, strong social connections and the chance to become a part of something bigger than myself

I am now older:

Question that is always relevant: Will there be cake?

If you ever have time, you might check out:

I really want the girl from the T-Mobile ads:

You could walk around my home swishing your dress all day long.

Update 11/30/11: Apparently, the T-Mobile Girl's name is Carly Foulkes.  According to the Wikipedia page about her she has been cast on an upcoming FX show titled Powers, which is based on a comic book by the same name and is set to start airing sometime in 2012.  Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to get to see Carly's acting ability on display because her character's murder is being investigated in the first episode.  Thankfully, her character will appear in advertisements in the fictional world of Powers throughout the first season.

Book Things

"Accessory is hardly a word that needs dressing up, but if you want to add just a spot of formality or irony to it, appurtenance does the job pretty well. Appertain is the most closely-related verb, and from there the meaning pretty much leaps out: an accessory object that pertains to a particular activity."
