Laser Weapons

The Iranians bought a bunch of tiny little boat / jets that their military plans to use to encircle larger warships if it ever came to Iran fighting against a naval superpower.  The United States Navy has a decent compliment of defensive weapons on board our warships to deal with enemy ships, specifically a 5 inch gun that can kick out up to 20 rounds a minute and the Phalanx close in weapons system, which is capable of blazing 4,500 rounds of tungsten a minute at an enemy.  The Phalanx can take down jets, boats and even incoming missiles before they reach the hull of the warships on which they are located.  Now, the United States has another weapon that can be used against the Iranian small jet boat things: a freaking laser beam!

Dreaming of a Living My Own Home

Instead of actually dealing with realtors and engaging the housing market in a real way, I continue to dream about my ideal abode.  My dream home would include a museum space to showcase the awesome stuff I aquire during the course of my life.

Museum

Art Gallery

The gallery would need to have lots of places to sit or lounge to look at the works of art on display and provide views of the garden and the sculptures in the garden.

Let's Hold a Party This Summer

I'm going to hold at least one gathering of people this summer.  I plan events for a living so to say that it should be something incredible is a bit of an understatement.  I want to knock this thing out of the park.

We're going to eat outdoors on a table made of cheap MDF board that has been covered with lineoleoum (sp?) or some other thing, and then set with homemade linen napkins, held together by metal napkin rings, with places available for

Overproduce

I have a new theory on how to live life to the fullest.  My new theory is called Overproduce to Succeed.  Put simply, the theory is that in order to succeed in life- to make money and be the envy of those around you- you should make it your goal to produce as much quality goods and services as your resources will allow.

I came up with this theory after buying two red beach / outdoor folding chairs from a big box store.  So far the chairs, which are made of metal and some kind of strong synthetic material with a cup holder on the right  arm all of which folds up and fits into a condom like sleeve that comes with a strap to sling the entire thing across your shoulder or carry at your side, have been fantastic for my sitting needs.  I've even loaned these chairs out for a weekend and got compliments on them when they were returned.  After buying these chairs, I noticed that they were available at lots of other stores.  I thought to myself that whoever made these chairs made a heck of a lot of them.  This got me to thinking that farmers who produce lots of corn, lettuce, pigs, chickens or whatever they are farming are probably the guys who are getting rich and setting the market cost of the goods they produce.  All of this led me to the theory that the best thing I can do with my time on earth is to overproduce, build abundance and somehow become wealthy.

This weekend, my plan is to overproduce using each one of the documents available at drive.google.com.  Here is a screenshot of the types of materials that one can produce in Google Drive:

That's right, I'm going to make a

  • Document -
  • Presentation - I'm finally collecting my comedy materials and putting them together in PowerPoint form.  If all goes well, I'll have enough materials to be able to slang for $59.95.
  • Spreadsheet - a list of the names commonly held by hot girls because everything from a boat to a computer to a car needs a name and they should be good ones
  • Form - A Clean Sheets and Dirty Girls
  • Drawing - I'm thinking of finding comics and replacing the text with my own writing.  Collecting high resolution (print quality) images of
  • Lucidchart diagram -
  • Mind map - all of the stuff I want to build, i.e. a stand for an ipad, a photo frame in the shape of a comic book page to hold photos that have comic book type captions in them,
  • Script - come to find out that this means the computer coding kind, not the Hollywood better buy this thing kind of script, darn.
I might even make more than one.

Game to Play this Weekend

This weekend I will play this game listed at the address above.  I should be doing my taxes instead.

Hmm. is there really a place the occupy movement can claim similar to this site:

My Desk at Work

I have and use two computers at work.  Neither computer is great and, in fact, one still runs XP slowly and has a broken optical drive.  The other computer runs Windows 7 but it doesn't have much software installed on it.  Here are the reasons why I have and use two computers, two monitors, two keyboards and two mice:

  • When one computer slows down, I immediately hop over to the other computer and start working on it
  • When I encounter a problem on one computer I can test to see if the same problem occurs on the other, which helps a lot in terms of troubleshooting problems
  • One piece of software I use everyday is a resource hog so I basically use one computer exclusively for that purpose

Excellent Stuff

Two of my favorite things, i.e. xkcd and subway art came together in the following comic:

Current Mainstream Entertainment List
  • Archer
  • Upcoming Hollywood Movies
  • CSI - I like the D.B. Russell character and the character played by Elizabeth Shue (sp?)
  • The Amazing Race - good background TV watching
  • Criminal Minds - I'm not crazy about the show but the blonde computer expert makes it watchable.  Plus, CBS seems to have the formula down for putting together entertaining television.
  • Daily Show / Colbert Report - funny and informative
  • Tosh.O
  • American Ninja Warrior and the original Ninja Warrior
  • Conan
  • Jeopardy
  • I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of things...
Older Mainstream Entertainment, Which I Still Enjoy
  • The Killing - while it did turn into a soap opera and I blame the detectives for not knowing anything about Seattle since the logo of a local indian casino appeared in Rosie's belongings and they didn't recognize it, the show really did have some excellent qualities.  I'll never forget the male detective asking the two high school girls about "the cage" as long as I live.
  • Harper's Island - still influences me for some reason
  • The Dark Knight - Ledger was so good as the Joker
  • Classic Literature - I could go on forever but Candide is the book that comes to mind right now as just one example of a book I believe everyone should read at least once.
Current Below the Radar Entertainment List
  • This Isn't Happiness - great site
  • Indie / free video games - I think video games are basically a waste of time but lots of other things are wastes of time and I still do them.
  • VICE - the site that is getting it's own tv show
Current Education List

  • The Great Courses on Calculus
  • TED - Great materials
  • Learning Spanish Materials - I try to spend one hour a day learning more about Espanol.
Hunt for Lists of / Materials On the Following Topics

  • Gardening
  • Birds of the SW

Weekend Entertainment Part Something

Movie to Watch

This weekend I'm taking on The Factory, a 2012 release I had never heard of before seeing it last night in the Netflix Watch Instantly library.  John Cusack and hottie Jennifer Carpenter star in this police drama with one of my Hollywood infatuations, Ksenia Solo, also in the cast.  The movie isn't even listed on RottenTomatoes.com so I am not holding my breath that this one will be anything to write home about but I really enjoy cops and murderer flicks and the cast is eye catching.
Punishing Exercise

I'm planning to get something back on the sunshine tax that normally I pay into the SoCal economy in the form of high housing, gas and energy costs this weekend by taking a trip to the beach to go jogging barefoot in the sand.  If all goes well, I should get a little bit of a tan and lose some of the unfortunate jiggle that has developed around my middle.  Hopefully, I won't run into any federal agents like I did the last time.

House Hunting Part 3

My ideal home would include several of the following elements.

Office

I really enjoy working with computers.  Every time I am using a computer, I'm happy.  Ideally, my home would include an office that has space for a regular desk, a space to stand and type at a comfortable level, a flat unused space to lay out materials for shipping, tinkering, etc.

Like the desks in any one of these locations:

Wood and Metal Shop

Basically, I want the warehouse space from Mythbusters in my home.  the metal bending machine they have is probably my favorite piece of equipment.  Having access to a drill press, table saw, welding equipment, painting supplies and enough space to actually use all of that equipment would thrill me.

Everything looks reasonably neat and organized and there is
enough space to put it all away

They even have enough room to build a concrete boat

Dirty Girl of the Month

Milani, a top heavy woman, is the official Dirty Girl of April 2013.  I believe all women are beautiful.  Unlike a now disgraced formed tenured professor in the field of physics however I do not believe that a few photos an an elaborate ruse would be enough to get me to fly to South America to meet her.  Here is the link to the New York Times article that features the tale of a lying former tenured professor who got himself tossed into the clink in South America for trying to smuggle coke.  Part of his claim is that he believed he was carrying on an online relationship with this gorgeous, world famous model.  His story, backed by computer and phone records, is that someone pretending to be Milani lured him to South America and asked him to bring a suitcase back to the United States with him because, he believed, she supposedly left her suitcase at the hotel where they were scheduled to meet.
